Mirrors, mirrors on the walls, you really can make us feel small, snowball with despair and sprawl when our beauty begins to stall. It’s like a magic spell that we fall under when our lovely bodies seem to start crumbling with age and every wrinkle, eye bag, marionette line, hair falling or sunken lip seems to bring us closer to the end of our beauty days. The illusion makes our heart ache and look everywhere for ways to make the inevitable slow. Some might take the quick needle route of Botox and fillers or entrust a scalpel with revamping their looks. But to be honest, who does that for anti-ageing and keeps looking fresh and juicy in the years to follow? Maybe plumper, maybe stonier, maybe stranger than its original self, but younger? You judge for yourself. And there are those others who resign themselves, let ageing run its course as they think it’s a willy-nilly thing and say: “Well, you have to be wise and accept the passing of time and age gracefully”. Well, what about saying this instead: ‘”Nah, let’s accept another challenge!”. And go out there and look for the ones who came back from the dead of skin and the night of body, and learn from each of them how they recovered their looks beautifully when lost and kept them stunning still through thick and thin? We just have to read the trail for crumbs left by them in their quest for beauty. Humanity is not that new on this Earth, fellow divas, somebody else along the ages must have figured some amazing things out when it comes to extremely long lasting beauty and left them in a book somewhere as a treasure to be found by future beauty hunters. Apparently, for the love of looks, we must read a lot of books! It’s a hero’s journey and we are going to have lots of adventures, that’s a given. We are going to fall into smartly advertised traps, believe this guru and that celebrity, emulate a fad or trust an ‘expert’, feel stuck and defeated when we don’t see rejuvenation happen, lose hope, think we are stupid for not seeing the truth earlier, but, to all orchids out there, remember: we all make mistakes, big or small, this is how we learn. And eventually find what we are looking for: reinstating our beauty into its full power.
