Hello and welcome to Session 1 of the Beginner DJ Masterclass. I’m Leith – and my life revolves around electronic music. This course is for anyone who’s ever thought: ‘I’d love to DJ, but I’ve got no idea where to start.’ Or maybe you’ve played a little already and want to level up. Session 1 lays the foundation for everything that follows. You’ll understand what a DJ actually is today, why people connect with DJs beyond the music, and the different paths a DJ career can take. We’ll cover the core skills you’ll develop in this course and why there’s never been a better time to start DJing than right now.

Session 2 breaks down DJ equipment without the overwhelm. You’ll learn the three main DJ setups, what each piece of gear actually does, how sound flows through a system, and what you truly need to start. We’ll cover mixers, players, headphones, Rekordbox basics, club-ready CDJ settings, and real-world tips I learned the hard way—so you walk away confident, not confused.

Session 3 is where DJing becomes a real skill. You’ll learn how beatmatching actually works, why learning by ear still matters, and how clean mixes are built. We break down tempo, beats, bars, phrasing, and show you how to align tracks manually, control EQs, avoid clashes, and manage energy. This session gives you the foundation that separates real DJs from playlists.

Session 4 is where you build your identity as a DJ. You’ll learn how to dig for music, organize your library, and select tracks with intention. We cover reading the room, managing energy, set planning vs freestyling, and how to create a sound people remember. This session teaches you how to play for real crowds—not just your bedroom.

Session 5 teaches you how to use DJ effects with taste and intention. You’ll learn what each effect actually does, when to use it, and when to leave it alone. We cover filters, echo, reverb, rolls, and advanced techniques that enhance transitions rather than hide mistakes. This session helps you add character and emotion to your mixes without overdoing it.

Session 6 shows you how to promote yourself as a DJ with clarity and integrity. You’ll learn how to define your brand, use social media with purpose, network naturally, and secure your first gigs. We cover professionalism, etiquette, and long-term mindset—so you build real trust, a strong reputation, and a sustainable DJ career without chasing hype.

The Studio session is a bonus that shows everything you’ve learned applied in real time on actual DJ equipment. You’ll watch full progressions from devices powered off, through setting up and troubleshooting sound routing, all the way to a complete mix — showing exactly how theory translates into real-world practice. While you can learn entirely in Rekordbox, this session lets you observe real workflows, timing, and decision-making on decks—bridging the gap between knowledge and performance.
