MEMORY LANE
My first memory of horse-love goes back to when I was about 4 years old and somebody sat me up on a grey workhorse called Dolly. As far as Dolly was concerned she was off duty. Her day's work was done and she had been untacked so her only interest was in eating grass. She only moved to find the next mouthful. But the warmth of her body, her steading breathing and satisfied snorts was enough. I was hooked! Who was your first horse love? Extra brownie points if you have a picture 🙂

Heart Horses
Asking horse people to name a favourite member of their equine team is like asking parents to choose a favourite child - so we’re not doing that 😊 Instead, we’re asking for photos of the one who stole your heart - by their presence or their absence 💕

WORTHLESS OR PRICELESS?
I’ve spent the last few weeks surrounded by horses - but not the kind I’m used to! The horses here are all involved in some way in the racing industry. Some schooling, some racing, some breeding, some retired. The one thing they have in common is that they are (or were) hugely valuable in monetary terms. In contrast, every member of the Horses Connect equine team is worthless. 😳 You might even say they’re rejects! Some of our horses are older. Some carry old injuries. Some have experienced neglect or cruelty before they came to us 😞 None of them would top a sales catalogue. They’re a long way from being prettiest, flashiest, or fastest. By conventional standards, their monetary value is low to non-existent. And yet… Every single one of them is worth multiple times their weight in gold to us — and to the people they help. In the horse world, price is often linked to value But in the equine-assisted world, value looks very different. Our horses provide 🐴 regulation instead of results 🐴 presence instead of performance 🐴 wisdom instead of speed 🐴 honesty instead of polish Their age or old injuries or past traumas didn’t disqualify them —they polished them. 💕 Because they know how to slow a human nervous system, to hold space, and when simply standing still is enough. They have no concept of what they’re ‘worth’. - and neither do the racehorses. Our horses teach people about respect, safety, clarity, connection and much more. And the people who meet them? They don’t leave talking about price tags. They leave calmer. Clearer. More connected to themselves. So yes —on paper, our horses may be “worthless.” In real life? They are priceless. Tell us about priceless horses 🐴
