🤩 Welcome - START HERE! 🤩
It's my absolute please to welcome you; my name is Hannah and I've been home educating since my first daughter was born nearly 16 years ago. For the last 6 or so years I've home educated as a single parent, working online and helping other families create their ideal lifestyles outside of the norm. In here I've popped my Reimagine: Home Educate With Confidence course, in the Classroom - as well as lots of extra resources. For those of you looking for a way to earn online in order to make home education work (or even just for fun) please feel free to grab a 7-day trial of my other community where I teach women how to grow and earn on Instagram and/or TikTok! I am very excited to see where this group goes; for now please use the Community tab as a place you can ask questions and get support. If there is demand I'll add live calls, socials etc - I'm open to suggestions!
Hey! I'm wondering if you can help?
Hi everyone, I'm Kelly and I've just joined, so a quick hello. I'm a mum right at the start of our home ed journey, and I've just left teaching to do this properly. I taught for years, though I was never really like the other teachers. Most of my lessons were responsive, led by the children in front of me rather than a rigid plan, so following a child's lead already feels like home to me. I've got an idea of how I want to organise things, but I'm really interested to see how other people actually manage it in real life. The way I see it, home ed works best when it's child led, starting with whatever they're into and letting everything grow out from there. Where I'd love your brains is the basics. How do you balance following your child's interests with covering things like reading and numbers? Do you plan any of it in, or do you let it all come from them? And if you could go back to the very start, what would you tell yourself? I know there are so many ways to do this, unschooling and everything in between, and I'm genuinely just trying to find my feet with it. I'm slowly putting together some gentle guides for the literacy and maths side, partly for us and partly to share, so I'm curious whether that sort of thing is actually useful to you, or just not how you work. I'm all ears and taking notes. Lovely to be here, and thank you in advance.
🥳 Our FIRST LIVE CALL 🥳
TUESDAY 11th AUGUST we are having our first live call- this is to meet everyone, start to get to know each other and chat about topics that are important to us! I will likely split these calls eventually into new / considering home ed, and those who have been doing it a while so we can talk about topics that really resonate - for this one let’s all come together, I’ll figure out a game we can play and just enjoy! If there are any subjects you’d like to cover please let me know in the comments! The link for this is here and also in our Calendar: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/83154127303?pwd=mAyTneRdLQXEFqqYblMNWzvpboZAaA.1
Where Is Everyone From? 🗺️
Morning everyone! I saw a post from the lovely @Christina Costa asking if there were any families near her- so I thought it might be helpful to have a post where you can find other home ed (or considering home ed) families locally to you! So, where is everyone based atm? You can also check out the Map at the top of the community and it will show (roughly) where everyone is. Connect and enjoy! 💗
