Which Sleeping Position Is The BEST To Sleep In? 🛌🏻✨
It was 6:30pm...
I was EXHAUSTED.
I had hypothermia 🥶 as well, and was EXTREMELY TIRED.
All I wanted to do was huddle under blankets and SLEEP.
(This was just a few weeks ago btw)
I then went over to my couch, laid on my back.
Suddenly, hours 🕖 pass BY.
I check the time.
"8:30PM?!"
It felt like only a few minutes had gone by.
My DAD came over to me and said that I was out like a LIGHT.
And that my MOUTH was open, I was breathing through it AND I was drooling everywhere. 🤢
What a sight that must've been.
I was thinking "How the hell was I mouth breathing?"
"I nasally breathe ALL the time!"
Until I realised something....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⛔ I had the INCORRECT sleeping position.
I was sleeping on my BACK, not on my SIDES, like I NORMALLY WOULD.
Let's get into why sleeping on your BACK and your STOMACH is INFERIOR to side sleeping.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, sleeping on your STOMACH. 🫁
Why shouldn't you sleep on your stomach?
There's MULTIPLE reasons for this.
Such AS:
🦴 Poor NECK and SPINE Alignment:
  • When you sleep on your stomach, it's difficult to keep your spine in a NEUTRAL position.
  • This can lead to neck and back pain because your head is typically turned to one side, causing strain on the NECK.
🫀 Pressure on internal ORGANS:
  • Sleeping on your stomach can put PRESSURE on your internal organs.
  • Including your LUNGS.
  • This contributes to MOUTH breathing, which is NOT what you want to be doing during sleep.
And other negatives TOO.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BACK sleeping
By far, the BIGGEST negative for people sleeping on their back...
Is a SIGNIFICANTLY increased risk of mouth-breathing, snoring 😮‍💨 and SLEEP APNEA.
This is because:
  • It can cause the TONGUE 👅 and soft tissues in the throat to collapse BACKWARD, which may OBSTRUCT the airway (which causes snoring, and if you have sleep apnea it's INCREDIBLY dangerous.
Back sleeping is also really bad for people who have ACID reflux.
There's also MANY other negatives of back sleeping, but let's not get into them now.
Let's get into:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
🛏️ SIDE SLEEPING!
This is HIGHLY recommended for those who tend to run HOT at night since it can help cool the body more effectively.
It's also AMAZING for people who have sleep apnea/snoring issues. 🤤
It's pretty much IMPOSSIBLE for the tongue to fall into the back of the throat with SIDE sleeping.
It's also really good for DETOXIFYING 🌿the brain (because of glymphatic system function)
And is WAY better for nasal breathing.
(BTW, it doesn't matter which side you sleep on)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Write this down RN and keep it next to your bed.
🎯 ACTIONABLE STEP: NEVER sleep on your back, sleep on your SIDE and ONLY your side.
