The law of impermanence.
The heavy weight of a difficult moment often tricks us into believing it will be our permanent reality.
Yet, the only absolute certainty in this life is that absolutely everything changes. The Buddha taught that clinging to joy causes anxiety, while resisting pain causes suffering, simply because neither state was ever designed to last. Recognizing this profound law of impermanence is the ultimate comfort. The deepest sorrow, the sharpest anxiety, the darkest night—none of it is static. It is all continuously moving, shifting, and dissolving.
When the present feels unendurable, you do not have to fix it instantly; you just have to outlast it. Lean into the quiet reassurance that this painful chapter is already in the process of becoming a memory. It will pass.
