Give yourself a pat on the back.
We spend an enormous amount of energy waiting for someone else to validate our struggles, completely forgetting that we are the only ones who actually know how heavy the load has been.
Shortly before his passing, the Buddha left his followers with a deeply empowering instruction: "Be an island unto yourself, be your own refuge." He intimately understood that while we can walk alongside others, the raw, grueling work of surviving a difficult life ultimately falls on our own shoulders. And you have done exactly that. Through every heavy season and every morning that felt completely impossible to face, it was your quiet, relentless effort that pulled you forward.
Life did not hand you an easy path. Yet, time and time again, you became your own sanctuary. You dug deep and found the grit to simply take the next breath, the next step, and face the next day.
Stop waiting for an external applause for a quiet battle only you know the full magnitude of. Look at the staggering distance you have covered, and give yourself the profound, unapologetic gratitude you absolutely deserve for never surrendering.
