How Reiki affects the body Part 1
Sorry guys! I’m out of town and haven’t had time to write. Reiki affects the body less like a medication and more like a nervous system reset. Think of it as shifting your body from stress mode into repair mode — and a lot of physical changes flow from that. Here’s what’s happening physiologically and energetically. 🧠 Nervous system regulation Reiki activates your parasympathetic nervous system — the “rest and digest” side. When this turns on: - heart rate slows - breathing deepens - muscles soften - cortisol (stress hormone) drops - blood pressure may decrease Your body moves out of fight-or-flight and into healing mode. This alone explains why people often feel warm, heavy, floaty, or deeply relaxed during a session. 🧬 Cellular repair & energy flow While Reiki isn’t mechanical like massage, practitioners believe it improves biofield coherence — the energetic field surrounding and interpenetrating the body. From a body perspective, relaxation triggers: • improved circulation • better oxygen delivery to tissues • reduced inflammation signals • enhanced immune response • more efficient cellular repair Stress blocks healing. When Reiki lowers stress, the body can finally do what it already knows how to do: restore balance.
