How To Maintain Relaxed Hair When You're Always In The Gym
What’s up my friends, Darron from Darron’s Beauty Shop. One of my followers asked a great question recently. She said: "Darron, I have a short relaxed pixie cut and I’m in the gym almost every day. How do I maintain my relaxed hair without constantly using heat?" If you’re active, you already know the struggle. Sweat at the gym can cause:• frizz• reversion at the roots• dryness• breakage But the good news is you don’t need to press or flat iron your hair every day to keep it looking polished. Let me show you exactly what to do. 1. Protect Your Hair BEFORE Your Workout The biggest mistake people make is waiting until after the workout to deal with their hair. Preparation is everything. Before you hit the treadmill, try this: Wrap or Mold the Hair For a pixie cut, lightly wrap the hair in the direction of the style. Then secure it with: • a silk scarf• a sweat-wicking headband This keeps the hair smooth and controlled while you sweat. 2. Use a Light Moisturizing Oil Sweat contains salt, and salt can dry the hair out. Before your workout, apply a small amount of oil to protect the strands. Good oils include: • jojoba oil• grapeseed oil• argan oil Or you can use something like my Refined Balance Beard & Hair Oil, which works great on relaxed hair because it’s lightweight and non-greasy. Just a few drops. You’re not trying to saturate the hair—just add a protective layer. 3. Let Sweat Work FOR You Here’s something most people don’t realize. A little sweat can actually help you reset your style. After your workout: • remove the scarf• lightly comb the hair in place• wrap or mold the hair again The natural moisture from the sweat helps the hair reform into the style as it dries. No heat required. 4. Use a Setting Lotion Instead of Heat This is an old-school stylist trick. If your pixie starts to lose shape, use a light setting lotion. Great options include: • Nairobi Wrapp-It Shine Foaming Lotion• Lottabody Wrap Me Foaming Mousse• Design Essentials Wrap Foam
