January is ending and many people have set goals that are aligned with their health for this month. Whether it was Dry Jan or Cold Plunge Challenge or Not Eating Out ... whatever it is that is awesome.
The question now becomes how do you sustain that progress?
You raise the floor.
What does that mean?
Instead of focusing on you keeping with your best habits of all time (ie this past month) what do you have to eliminate that will derail your progress the most? If you think in terms of raising the floor vs attaining the consistency of your habits at the highest peak. Another way to think about it is what do I have to subtract that is hindering me from achieving my health goals. Subtraction before addition.
This will take you farther, with less work, and better results.
Examples:
Dry Jan ---> I will only drink 1x per week and have less than 2 drinks for Feb (8 drink total for Feb)
You eliminated the binge drinking nights that leads to a plethora of bad actions
Cold Plunge Challenge --> I will not go more than 7 days without cold plunging
You eliminated the long gaps of not doing cold plunging
Not Eating Out --> I will only eat out 1x per week at places where I know don't use poor oils
You eliminated the completely processed carbs and rancid oils that derailed your entire week of eating clean
What do you have to eliminate to raise the floor?
