🎁 Free Harry Potter Writing Lesson for Your Child
To celebrate the launch of this community, I’ve added a free sample writing lesson to the Classroom section 🪄 It’s called “Create Your Own Magic Spell” and it’s a fun, self-paced video lesson for children aged 7 to 14 who enjoy the world of Harry Potter. In this lesson, your child will invent their very own spell and imagine: ✨ What the spell is called✨ What it does✨ When someone might use it✨ Any funny or unexpected side effects They can even hold a “wand” while they work, a real one if they have one, or a pen or chopstick works just as well. There’s also an optional writing frame to help children organise their ideas, so they never feel stuck wondering what to write next. This activity is designed to feel fun and imaginative, while quietly building important writing skills like:🖊 Expanding ideas into full sentences 📚 Adding detail and description 🧠 Structuring writing clearly 👉 You’ll find the lesson under the Classroom tab at the top of my Harry Potter group. If your child gives it a try, I’d love to hear:What their spell was calledWhat it didTheir favourite part of the activity ✨ I’ll be sharing more simple, confidence-building reading and writing activities here, along with updates about live classes 💛

🪄 A Simple Harry Potter Writing Activity You Can Try at Home
One of the easiest ways to get children writing without the usual resistance is to start with a character they already care about from Harry Potter. Try this quick activity 👇 ✨ Magical Character Snapshot Ask your child to choose a character (for example, Hermione, Ron, Luna, Draco, or even a magical creature). Print out a picture. Then help them complete these sentence starters: 🧙 This character is the kind of person who… 👀 When you first see them, you notice… 🗣️ They often say things like… 💭 Deep down, they worry about… ⭐ Their greatest strength is… Encourage your child to give specific details, not just “nice” or “brave.” You can ask: “What does that look like?” “When have we seen that in the story?” This helps children move from simple descriptions to more thoughtful, detailed writing, which is a big step forward in school too. 💡 Tip: Keep it short and low-pressure. Even 4 to 5 good sentences is a win. Then ‘act’ as that character! Get the whole family envolved! If you try this at home, come back and tell me: 👉 Which character your child chose 👉 Which sentence they found easiest or hardest I’ll share more small, confidence-building writing activities like this here each week ✨

⚡ Welcome to the Harry Potter Reading & Writing Club ⚡
Hi and welcome, I’m Jenny, a UK qualified teacher with over 15 years of classroom experience, and a lifelong fan of Harry Potter 🪄 This community is for parents of children aged 7 to 14 who want their child to grow in reading confidence, writing skills, and imagination through the wizarding world. In my live classes, we don’t just talk about the books. We use magical characters, settings, and story moments to help children learn how to: ✨ Write detailed character descriptions ✨ Use ambitious vocabulary in a natural way ✨ Organise their ideas clearly ✨ Feel PROUD of their writing Many of the children I teach begin by saying: “I don’t know what to write.” “I’m bad at writing.” “Writing is boring.” Through familiar stories and structured support, they start to see themselves as capable writers, and that confidence carries back into school. 📚 Inside this community, I’ll be sharing: • Simple writing tips you can try at home • Sneak peeks of class-style activities • Support for reluctant or anxious writers • Updates about upcoming clubs and lessons If you’re here, I’d love to get to know you. 👉 How old is your child? 👉 Do they currently enjoy writing, or do they need a confidence boost? Pop a comment below and introduce yourself ⚡
