Jingshan Outcome Notes-01
On the still surface of the pavement, I sense the light wind, the moist air, and the quiet presence of life. This painting involves many challenges and breakthroughs, and has become an important turning point in my practice. It reveals the boundaries of my previous investigations, and at the same time opens new directions for future research. I am grateful to have reached this point during the residency, and excited to follow and explore where these new investigations lead.

Jingshan Outcome Notes-01
Research Note 03 : Aging Arrangement
This work extends my ongoing exploration of relational structures through the lens of aging and accumulation. While earlier works focused on interconnected units, this project considers how time gradually transforms those relationships. The knitted forms were exposed to oxidized materials, allowing rust traces to emerge through contact rather than direct application. Alongside these traces, I incorporated fibers and yarns whose colours evoke rust and oxidation, extending these qualities into the structure itself. What interests me is the idea that aging is not a process of deterioration but one of continuous formation. Rust records interactions between material, environment, and time, while the textile surface becomes a site where these relationships remain visible. Rather than reproducing the image of rust, this work explores how time settles into material and becomes embedded within form through accumulation, contact, and duration.

Final Residency Show: Residue
Hands-on is pleased to present “Residue”, the final residency exhibition showcasing works by Ana Benavides, Jingshan Ding, Farnaz Gholami, Seongeun Lee, and Regina Thorres Thompson, curated by Senem Cagla Bilgin-Keys. Situated within a domestic space, Residue brings the works into an intimate field of dialogue. The pieces, which recontextualise the ordinary elements of domestic life, invite us to rethink boundaries, modes of belonging and the possibilities of living together. In this context, Residue refers not only to what remains, but to the traces left behind by shared experiences, encounters and lived time. As the exhibition interrogates notions of safety, familiarity and coexistence, it displaces the idea of home from a fixed place into a continuously reconfigured relational space. Residue will be on display at A Space Residence from 02 to 05 July 2026 and will continue online until 09 August 2026. RESIDUE 02 - 05 July 2026 Thursday to Sunday 11am - 6pm OPENING NIGHT Thursday 02 July 6pm - 9pm A Space Residence 237 Caledonian Road London, N1 1ED RSVP: [email protected]
