Accountability should create ownership, not dependency.
Yet many business owners fall into the same trap. They want standards, so they start chasing updates, checking every detail, and stepping into every issue.
That is not accountability. That is micromanagement wearing a different outfit.
Real accountability looks different. It comes from three things:
1. Clear expectations
If people do not know what success looks like, they cannot own it.
2. Measurable outcomes
Focus on results, deadlines, and standards, not constant activity.
3. Consistent follow-through
Regular check-ins matter. Rescue missions do not. A strong team should not need you in every conversation, decision, or task.
If you are involved in everything, the system is broken, not the people.
