Questions about spent mushroom substrate
Hey, y'all! I've been a bit absent lately, and I'm really sorry, but I've been BUSY! Stumbled across a BIG business opportunity and am working diligently on getting everything together to make it happen. BUT, in amongst my stumbling, I met a mushroom farmer interested in bartering spent substrate for finished worm castings.
At first I didn't want her composted substrate because she said she finds worms in it all the time and I don't want to introduce them into my vermiculture system. But then again, my garden soil needs all the help it can get with introducing fungal mediums. Would this be a good addition? If so, how much should I add?
And as food for the worms, I would prefer spent substrate not composted yet so I could pre-compost in a controlled environment before feeding to my worm employees, which in turn should make my castings more fungally dominant. Right? I hear they LOVE it!
Input? Suggestions?
