What do you want?
I've been thinking a lot about what direction I want to take things, and I want your help!
My plan originally was to create this as a resource for growers to have / use whenever they have questions, or run into obstacles. I wanted to use the classroom section as a place to dump information & resources so that I had an easy direction to point people towards when they ask me questions. I originally was going to have it sectioned into different tiers, but I think I lean towards having a basics course for brand new people, and using the "Beginner's Cannabis" section almost like a canna-encyclopedia.
I'm still continuing to work on those every day, but I want to get a little more hands-on. Information is great, but I want to find real reasons for people to show up here consistently.
So that's where I'm at today. What do you want out of this Skool? Tell me your ideal world. If I could wave a magic wand and overnight grant you your wishes, what would you like to see? Drop me a comment or DM with whatever would bring you the most value personally, even if it's not realistic.
In an ideal world, I could be in-person to check out every single person's garden & give tailored advice, support, and encouragement at any moment you desire. I'd love to be able to share clones of really special plants, and help show people those really unique experiences.
Of course that's not possible, but I've found it to be a good brainstorming exercise for how I want to structure things. Help me out!
I also want to hear from the experienced growers about what they value the most. I'd love to be able to share clones of really special plants, and help show people some really unique experiences. Legally, that gets pricy dicey pretty quick (especially in other states or countries). But forget about practicality, what would be your dream world?
----------------------------------------
There's a lot of possibility on this page, and I have enough experience & knowledge at this point that I feel very confident in my ability to help people succeed.
For the folks who don't know, the original plan was to create and sell my own living soil blend. I spent tons of time, money, and research into formulating tons of recipes, and then even more time, money, and experimenting with live plant trials and side-by-side tests in those soils. I've had, and continue to get, fantastic results but I discovered I really enjoy teaching and the hands-on aspects I've gotten from working in-person with people through EcoGro (the garden store I work at), as well as the classes I teach there on Saturdays.
Being able to help people achieve their first harvest, or their best harvest yet, has been incredibly satisfying and I've helped hundreds of people start growing cannabis or at least their own veggies & herbs, but there's a limit to how many people I can talk to in a day & directly support. I created this Skool with the intention of doing that at a larger scale.
I have no intention of ever making money off the resources I provide, and I think free information / education is incredibly important and should always be available.
I have been toying around with the idea of a guided grow-along course that combines a few different components though.
The idea is to create a system that is as easy as possible to introduce new people into growing organic cannabis, or experienced growers into trying living soil systems. It would basically be a paint-by-numbers style growing kit that gets sent directly to you, with a special course and physical media to come along with it.
Inside each kit would be my own personally made products (my own soils, my own amendments, etc) as well as reputable seeds from local breeders customized to your personal taste according to a questionnaire or conversation. This ensures a high quality-control and streamlines troubleshooting.
To keep things from being overwhelming, each section would be broken down into it's own separate course with a requirement at the end to make it to the next step. For example, section 1 would include seeds and everything you need to start them & make it through the seedling stage. It would include a physical printout telling you exactly what to do, as well as it's own digital Skool-course.
In order to proceed to the next section, you would send a picture or make a post of your seedling successfully standing tall and that would unlock the veg segment where the process repeats but with the materials & info you would need for that section.
Section 2 would be on the veg stage, section 3 on flower, and section 4 on drying / curing.
That process would go all the way from seed to harvest with direct support from myself & the Skool, plus check-ins at scheduled times (video? text? in-person?) to help guide you at each step of the process.
This is something that would include all the materials, seeds, and support that you would need for an entire grow in one package that keeps you from overspending on non-essential products. It's a big pet peeve of mine that companies invent products just because people will buy them! Growing weed is supposed to be an economical & health conscious decision. This would aim to achieve both and in a success-first orientated environment.
Just to clarify, this would NOT affect the free side of the Skool, I will always provide free education. But it allows me to be a lot more hands-on with getting growers started, and ensuring the highest quality outcomes. It's something I've thought a lot about, but it's more of a long term vision.
I have tons of details I can add, as well as different options to upscale or downscale this according to the budget & scale, but I've said plenty already (I tend to do that on here haha).
This is NOT something I intend on doing right away because of my job, but I do want to get the bones of my system setup and offer free consultations to people in the meantime to work out the kinks & determine what brings the most value to growers.

Like always, thank you for reading if you made it this far! I truly appreciate it.
Please let me know you thoughts and idea on how to make this free Skool community valuable, as well as if you think I'm on the right track with some of my thinking.
Much love,
- Jake
