My Personal Grow Log - Season 1🌱🍃
I decided to make a Grow Log series that follows along with my indoor plants!
There's a written section and a video for each update, talking about what I'm doing & my thought process behind everything.
This will be a master "thread" that gets updated over time but I want to keep everything in one place and as organized as possible. If you have suggestions for how to do it better, let me know!
Here's the details of my setup:
-------------------------------
🏠 Indoors
⛺ 4x4 Tent - AC Infinity
☀️ LED Lights - Highgrove Magnolia 6 or 8, I can't remember the name
🪱 Homemade living soil mix in 30 gal pots ; 2nd round in this soil
(You can find the recipe in the Classroom)
I'm starting from clone, using the original breeder's cuts (supposedly) of the following strains:
Blue Dream
GG #4
Lavender
Madd Fruit
These were preserved from the 90's - 2000's era from the original breeders (or someone in their circles), and are super special to me. I have a bunch of others to run through but these were the first ones ready. They're supposed to be some pretty elite cuts, and I'm honored to have been gifted them.
I'll try to showcase cool traits as we go.
-------------------------------
⬇️ Everything below here will be grow log updates, numbered and roughly dated. The videos will be at the bottom of the post and labeled to match with the written posts. ⬇️

🌱 UPDATE #1 (December 25th) - Early Veg
I haven’t done very much besides transplanting plants and watering a few times. I added some microbes as soon as I got plants in the soil but that's about it. It's a pain to mix your own soil, but if done correctly it does most of the work for you!
I'm using "Rootwise Mycrobe Complete" as my microbes product right now, but I change it occasionally.
It’s been about 10 days since the last watering, and I left them on their own for a week while I was out town without any problems.
I’ll try to keep track of whatever I do to the soil or plants, but I tend to keep things pretty simple. Tonight, I’m just doing some topping / trimming and I’ll go over my mindset of what I’m doing in the videos below!

🌱 UPDATE #2 (January 23rd) - Late Veg, transition to Flower soon
So I over-vegged pretty badly, and my plants got too big! I've been real busy in my normal life and neglectful of the garden recently.
This update is a month later, and I've done nothing except water them twice. They still look pretty decent despite the neglect though.
There's very few growing styles out there that can fit into a busy schedule so forgivingly!
In the video I show off just how much of a haircut I had to give them, and the reasons behind why I cut back so heavily.
The plan now is to top dress the flowering food, and give them a little time to recover before flipping to flower in roughly a week.
My top dress consists of basic ingredients like Crab Meal, Fish Bone Meal, Kelp Meal, and Langbeinite that I mix together at home. I also add a good layer of compost or castings on top of that, and a little bokashi if I feel fancy.
Definitely no expensive bottled nutrients, and you could replace this with any "flower" or "bloom" top dress and get the same results, I just happen to have these on hand but I have a different mix I use normally.
I also changed my light cycle to 16 hours on, 8 hours off (instead of 18/6). The idea is to mimic seasonal changes outdoors, and provide a gradual transition into less "daylight".
And that's about it! Now I don't touch them again until we're ready to flower.
Temp: 80-85 F
Humidity: ~75% (I’ll drop slightly as it gets closer to flower)
PPFD (light): ~500

🌱 UPDATE #3 (January 29th) - Transition to Flower
Things look good! The plants have recovered pretty nicely, and I'll be starting to flower them very soon (I think tomorrow).
I finally top dressed my flower fertilizer yesterday, but I kept things super simple. Here's the actual recipe:
12x Fish Bone, 4x Langbeinite, 2x Kelp, 1x Alfalfa top dressed + Bokashi sprinkled on top.
I normally add other stuff too, but this was what I had on hand. Don't overthink it!
The soil life is looking good, and I'm pretty happy with how the pruning turned out. Very excited to see these in flower.

🌸 UPDATE #4 (February 17th) - Early Flower: Day 18
A lot has gone on!
My plants stretched too much, and left the GG4 behind. Not the end of the world, but there's some pretty big light differences in my canopy.
I've been foliar spraying consistently, but stopping those now. I mostly use Rooted Leaf products for foliar sprays now plus the occasional coconut water.
And I found thrips! So I'm treating those with Dr Zymes on the foliage & SF Nematodes in the soil.
Other than that, flower has been great & very smooth. Nutrition and environment has been no problem, and I'm glad I can use this log as a demonstration of how to deal with problems when they show up.
I'll keep this one short because I made the video long! Check that out if you want more details and a better description of what I have going on.

🌸 UPDATE #5 (recorded March 25-27) - Late Flower: Day 54 - 56
Oh man, I missed a lot of updates! I've been terrible about getting this updated, but I wanted to at least show off how things are looking.
Flowers are packing on nicely & get larger almost daily.
The thrips problem has been managed and seems to have gone away fully, but I still monitor things. I quit foliar spraying the Dr Zymes weeks ago, and I haven't done foliar sprays of any kind since then.
Occasionally I water in some solution-grade gypsum, and some low doses of silica, but I haven't used a lot of products. I try to make my soil responsible for 90% of the work, and use other products as supplements at different stages (mostly Rooted Leaf, microbes, or gypsum). From here on out, I don't feed anything besides some gypsum in the water. Supposedly this can help with maintaining that white ash that everyone is after, but it's really just a good, cheap calcium boost that I use in low doses to make sure I always have enough available to my plant. Calcium is responsible for a lot of wonderful things with cannabis.
I also like to do a bit of a dry back and let the soil dry out more towards harvest time. Chances are, I either won't water again, or maybe just 1-2 more times until harvest. Big pots hold the moisture really well!
The smells from these plants have been absolutely fantastic, and is the thing I'm most excited about. I go over some of that in the videos, but even in just the couple of days since then, the smells keep changing. I try to check every couple of days, and I'll get another update when I go to harvest each plant showing off how they did.
I did cut down my light cycle from 12/12 to 11/13 ~a week or so earlier (extra hour of dark, 1 less hour of light). I do this to help encourage ripening, and to mimic some of the natural light cycle you would see outdoors. For some strains, this makes a real difference. For others, not really.
I experimented a lot this round with trimming extra heavy, and I'm happy with the results. We'll see if it affects yield too badly, but I should end up with a lot of A+ quality buds, rather than larfy lower buds that I don't even want. I def could've put my trellis net higher though.
Overall, this has been a pretty smooth grow, and I'm VERY excited to see how they finish up. I can't stress enough how much I love these smells. The plants are looking nice, but I'm going to keep them running just a little longer. I'll start checking trichomes pretty often from here on out, and harvest time is right around the corner.
I kind of failed in keeping the grow log updated, and so I'm going to work on more consistent updates on the next round. I'll be moving pretty soon so there will be some delays, but I plan on getting the next round going as soon as I finish with that!

🌸 UPDATE #5 (recorded April 9th) - Harvest: Day 69
Finally chopped down the plants. Very happy with how everything ended up finishing!
Got lots of fade as I backed off on watering, and I decided to harvest all the plants at the same time since I'll be moving & I want to keep things simple.
I'll make another post after the dry & cure showing off the buds / what I think. If you want to know how I dry, you can check the video (or you can check out the drying & curing section in the Grower's Guidebook).
Despite some of the problems, I'm super happy with how things turned out this round. I'm writing this a few days into drying, and I've already been stealing some sample nugs haha. I can't help myself. They're obviously way too early, but I've been enjoying them still. They don't have the taste yet, but the effects are great! Very, very pleased to have these cuts in my arsenal.
