I had a funny thing happen on Monday when we were playing 9 holes. We had a first-timer join our foursome, Meredith. On the 4th hole, she teed off and hit a great shot with her new pink Callaway straight down the centre of the fairway. It was unstamped. We waved a group of three men through and told them they could play ahead of us. Unbeknownst to us, one of the men was also playing with a pink Callaway. He teed off, then spotted Meredith’s ball and simply continued playing with it! We didn’t realise straight away. When we caught up with them on the green, I approached the men and explained that they had accidentally picked up Meredith’s ball and that their ball was probably under a group of trees on one side, pointing towards where I thought it might be. The other men weren’t having a bar of it! They insisted they had seen the ball immediately after they teed off and that it was definitely theirs. I explained that Meredith was using the exact same brand and colour of ball. Still, they didn’t seem to take the hint. They even pointed out the other balls they had walked past in the centre of the fairway, which were from the rest of our foursome. We eventually looked for their ball but didn't find it, while Meredith dropped another one and continued playing. It did make me laugh afterwards. We certainly have some very strong-minded men on the course who don't mind taking something if they happen to take a fancy to it! 😂 What do you think? Honest mistake, or did they just decide that they liked the position of Meredith’s pink Callaway better? 😂
