Be Amazed
Let me tell you something most people forget: amazement isn’t just a feeling, it’s a tool. And if you want more happiness in your life, you’d better start using it.
Think back. When’s the last time you were truly amazed? Like knocked back in your chair amazed? Maybe it was watching a magician for the first time. As a kid, I remember seeing guys like Doug Henning, Siegfried & Roy, later David Blaine and Criss Angel. I sat there thinking, How the hell did they do that?
It wasn’t just about the trick. It was about that childlike state of wonder, that spark in your brain whispering, "Anything is possible." That feeling is addictive. And it’s fuel.
Nature’s Magic Show
If you think magic only happens on stage, you’re not paying attention. Nature is throwing miracles at you every single day, and you’re probably walking right past them.
Take a sunrise. Simple. Predictable. But watch it for more than 10 seconds and you’ll remember it’s a masterpiece that happens daily, no ticket required.
Or look at a zebra, galloping within minutes of birth. A kangaroo joey? Born smaller than an inchworm, climbs its mother’s fur, finds the pouch, latches on, grows bigger than you or me. That’s not luck—that’s design.
And don’t even get me started on a caterpillar. This tiny thing wraps itself in a cocoon and comes out a butterfly. You can’t convince me that’s just random. You could spill ink on a page a billion times and it’ll never form a Shakespeare play. There’s something bigger at work here.
Your Job: Meet the Miracle Halfway
Here’s my take: We’re all part of something way bigger, call it God, the Universe, Intelligent Design, whatever works for you. But whatever’s pulling the strings? It has bigger plans for you than just “exist.”
But you’ve got to show up. You’ve got to meet it halfway. That amazement you feel, it’s a reminder. A signal. It’s saying, Wake up. Appreciate what’s around you. Put some effort in.
Your Daily Assignment
Here’s your challenge: Tomorrow morning, before you grab your phone, take a breath. Feel your chest rise and fall. Appreciate the fact you even woke up, because I promise you, that was not guaranteed.
Savor that first sip of coffee. Appreciate the teeth you’re brushing as you stare in the mirror. Notice the “ordinary” stuff that’s actually extraordinary when you look closer.
That’s how you keep happiness alive. Not just by chasing big wins, but by staying amazed at the everyday miracles that are already yours.
Because the truth is, the world isn’t short on magic. Most people are just too distracted to notice it.
Be amazed.
