Hey ladies, just a reminder, we are in Leviticus chapter 10 today as we talk about Nadab and Abihu, and this one is honestly heavy.
In Leviticus 10, right in the beginning of the chapter, God actually kills Nadab and Abihu for offering strange fire. And on the surface, that can feel harsh. But here is what we have to understand.
They offered something to God that He never asked for.
Now let’s set the scene. Nadab and Abihu were not random men. They were priests. They were trained. They had already seen the glory of the Lord. So this was not ignorance. This was disobedience.
And this is where we have to check our hearts.
When we approach God, we cannot approach Him casually. We have to approach Him with honor, with reverence, and with the fear of the Lord. He is holy.
So I want to ask you a real question today.
- What does strange fire look like in your life?
Have there been moments where you’ve approached God casually?
Because offering strange fire today can look like praying and worshiping, but you are also scrolling on your phone at the same time. Your attention is divided. That is not reverence.
It can look like getting on a stage and preaching the gospel, but still choosing to live in sexual sin behind the scenes.
It can look like singing in the choir, lifting your hands in worship, and then going to a Sunday day party after church.
God is holy. And He is to be honored.
We cannot give Him what He did not ask for and expect Him to receive it.
So I want you to be honest with yourself.
In what ways have you offered strange fire to the Lord?
And in what areas do you need to repent?
