Portugal's worst train accident
In 11 September 1985, the worst train accident in Portugal happened in Alcafache (Mangualde municipality, Viseu region). Two trains (Sud-Express, heading to Paris, and a regional train, on its way to Coimbra) collided head on. Several fires broke up, and because there were several hundred passengers in the trains, it's still unkown the real number of deceased, but the number most accepted is 150.
