What are we doing with AI ?

So, we were watching this video in social studies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiiqiaUBAL8 and it was about a company called Palantir that shows how AI can be used in warfare. If you think about it, you can't even intercept these drones with radio waves or usual jammers because they use their own local chips and AI models. They don't need internet or manual input once the model is trained to detect and go toward a target, which means a country with this technology could conquer another country easily. But it gets worse. If we use AI for everything and let it self-train, AIs will start making better AIs, which puts us on a path toward extinction. I watched another video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwfCWDO4LbM that explains how tech companies want to deploy models while completely ignoring safety checks. This poses a massive risk to society through things like AI "sleeper agents" and scheming, which is exactly why so many top scientists are resigning and warning the public. Whats even crazier is looking at the state of the world right now. We are almost on the verge of WW3, and if we look at the pattern of the past 2 World wars it feels like we are just one last stage away from it triggering into a full World War. Why are we automating everything if it leaves humans with no purpose, especially at a time like this? The rich will get richer, while the poor who do the jobs nobody else wants will be left with nothing, facing starvation and extreme poverty.
