I grew up in a village with 300 people.
It is fair to say that I was always surrounded by nature.
Even my kindergarten was a “Waldkindergarten,” meaning “forest kindergarten.”
There are so many secrets hidden in nature.
My favourite is the concept of emergence, which also connects to the Gaia hypothesis.
Let me explain:
Consider an ant colony.
Each ant has a specific role.
Some gather food, others build the nest, and another group defends the colony.
Alone, an individual ant couldn’t survive.
But as part of a greater whole, it can thrive.
Families work the same way.
Each member has a role, and together, we achieve more than we could achieve alone.
It doesn’t stop at a single family or a single colony.
Both are part of an even greater system.
But only humans are aware of that.
We know that we are part of a family.
This family is part of a country which is part of humanity.
The better we understand this emergence, the more value we can provide.
That is how 1+1 can be 11 or even 111.
By understanding our place in the system, we can change the system.
That is why I believe in the power of education.
If one of us learns, we all learn.
Let's learn together from nature.
