Welcome!
Hi everyone, and welcome! I created this space to support families navigating autism by sharing practical strategies, resources, and real-life experiences in a way that feels approachable and helpful. I hold a master’s degree in applied behavior analysis with a distinction in Autism, and I’m passionate about advocating for families and making evidence-informed information more accessible. At the same time, it’s important to stay within ethical boundaries. To keep this space supportive and responsible, I do not provide individualized behavior plans or clinical intervention advice. For personalized support, please consult a licensed professional (e.g., BCBA). What I do encourage is open discussion, shared experiences, and general strategies that may help others in similar situations. You’re not alone here. ♾️☺️ #NeurounitedNotNeurodivergent

Assent and Assent Withdrawal
Assent and assent withdrawal are two key factors to identify, especially pre-meltdown. Assent withdrawal occurs when one begins communicating that they are no longer comfortable, emotionally regulated, willing to continue, or able to tolerate an environment or demand. "Many individuals on the spectrum have a tenacious moral makeup and high levels of empathy. Marcia Eckerd, a licensed psychologist, writes: “An autistic person often has such a strong feeling for what’s right that he would put that before his own interests.” When I feel mass amounts of empathy, the experience can lead to emotional overwhelm and mental confusion."...Practicing Grace in Communication: Interacting with Individuals on the Spectrum By Marcelle Ciampi, MEd via Autism parenting Magazine.
