I was scrolling through a community feed, and I couldn't help but notice -
every post felt like it could’ve been written by a bot.
I know, it probably wasn't.
But it felt like it.
And it felt that way because it felt ... generic.
I honestly didn't feel like I could kick off my shoes and hang out for a while.
And my Brand brain started to twitch.
Because, that is a Brand misstep that costs people money.
You don't have to use AI to come across as flat and sterile.
People have been hiding behind their content way longer than AI has been around.
Look - people come to your community because they connect with you.
Or they come to get what you offer and through that, they have a chance to get to know you.
When they do, they need to feel like walking into your living room -
somewhere that is yours and feels like you, not a sterile waiting room.
What about your posts, are we feeling you in them?
Do they help us connect with you?
Do we get a sense of closeness to you,
that we could make a pretty good guess of what would be on a bookshelf in your home,
or if you spend your free time doing jigsaw puzzles or working out.
(I am totally a jigsaw puzzle person and you're totally welcome to join me!)
If not, it will be harder for people to connect with you, trust you,
and ascend with you to the next level.
And that makes everyone lose.
I know - it takes a little more time.
And it requires us to be a little bit brave to share some of ourselves.
But in the end, you, and how you connect with others, is worth it.
Plus, it's what Legends do.
