Nobody learns to love by watching someone who's already good at it.
The guru model has a beautiful flaw at its centre.
It puts a finished man at the front of the room and asks you to learn from the distance between you.
But love isn't learned by watching someone who figured it out.
It's learned in the mess of practising it. Badly, then less badly, then occasionally beautifully. With other people doing the same thing.
The man who taught you to ride a bike didn't explain balance.
He ran beside you until you felt it.
Communication is no different.
You don't learn it in a seminar. You don't learn it from a keynote.
You learn it mid-sentence, in a real conversation, with someone who has skin in the same game you do.
The men who change aren't the ones who found the right teacher.
They're the ones who found the right room.
Not watching one who's already arrived.
The work happens in the room. The room is the point.
