Welcome to Food Freedom Journal
First of all, welcome. If you are reading this, you are one of the first people to enter Food Freedom Journal. This is the first time I have opened this space publicly, so it will probably feel smaller and quieter in the beginning than it will a few months from now. But I actually think there is something special about that. It means I can be more present, listen closely to what the first members need, answer your questions, and give more attention to this community as it begins to take shape. Before you start exploring, I want to explain what Food Freedom Journal really is. This is not a quick fix that will solve your relationship with food overnight. I wish it were that simple, but these patterns were not created overnight either. Still, you can get to a better place. And this is where we begin. Food Freedom Journal is not another collection of rules telling you what to eat, how much to exercise, or what your body should look like. At the same time, you will not be told to simply “love yourself,” forget your goals, or pretend that wanting to change your body or habits no longer matters. Wanting change is not wrong. But when the way you pursue it leaves you anxious, depleted, guilty, obsessive, or constantly afraid of losing control, something needs to shift. And that shift begins with your mind. Because when food takes up too much mental space, the problem is rarely only what is sitting on your plate. It is the guilt after eating something unplanned. The fear that resting will make you lose control. The belief that one imperfect meal has ruined the entire day. The comparison. The voice telling you to eat less, move more, try harder, or become smaller. Food Freedom Journal was created to help you understand those thoughts, beliefs, fears, and automatic patterns...and slowly begin building something different. More awareness. More trust. More flexibility. More peace. Not through another extreme, but through small shifts you can carry into your real life.
Question about the red hair tie method
I tried the red hair tie thing today but I didn’t have a red one, so I just used a brown one that was lying around the house and put it on my wrist. It worked for the first few bites, but then I got distracted and completely forgot about it 😂 I only noticed it again when I was already halfway through my meal. Is that still okay? Or should I try to find a brighter color so I actually notice it more?
Am I overthinking this? Question on module 1
Hey everyone, I’m working through the first workbook and I’m a little confused about something. Yesterday I ate more than I normally do, and today my first thought was that I should eat less or do a bit more exercise to balance it out. I can see that this is probably the kind of pattern we’re supposed to start noticing, but at the same time, part of me thinks... isn’t that just balance? 😅 How do you know when you’re genuinely making a healthy choice and when you’re actually compensating because you feel guilty or scared of gaining weight? Also, once I notice the thought, am I supposed to do anything differently or just write it down for now? It feels a bit strange to recognize that it might be coming from fear and then still do it anyway. Not sure if I’m explaining this properly, but has anyone else struggled with this part?
Two New Resources You’ll Unlock During Your First Week 📖
I’m really happy to share that, during your first week inside the premium tier of Food Freedom Journal, you’ll unlock two new practical guides and workbooks: → Before You Overeat → I Overate. Now What? I wanted these to be among the first resources you receive because overeating was something I struggled with a lot. And when I say overeating, I do not mean having another slice of pizza because it was good, ordering dessert after dinner, or occasionally leaving a restaurant feeling fuller than usual. I mean that horrible feeling of knowing you are already uncomfortable, knowing you want to stop, and still feeling as though you cannot create enough distance from the food to do it. Then came the other half of the pattern: The guilt. The calculations. The promises to do better. Back then, I often found myself creating lists, writing down thoughts, and trying to make sense of what had happened. I was looking for something practical I could reach for in the moment, especially when my mind was too overwhelmed to remember everything I had learned. Having something on hand that could guide me through the situation, without adding more guilt or giving me another set of rules, would have helped me enormously. So I created the resources I wish I had. Here’s a little sneak peek at what you’ll find inside! 1) BEFORE YOU OVEREAT This guide and workbook will help you recognize what may be building before the moment you feel out of control. Because the pattern does not always begin with the first bite. Sometimes it begins when you eat less in preparation for a dinner out. When you spend the entire week anticipating one meal. When food feels like a rare opportunity. When you are physically hungry, emotionally exhausted, stressed, or simply tired of controlling yourself. The guide will help you move backwards through the experience, recognize your personal build-up, and identify one condition you may be able to change before the pressure becomes overwhelming. 2) I OVERATE. NOW WHAT?
