"But those who obey God's word truly show how completely they love Him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did." 1 John 2:5-6 NLT
I'd like to think that I show how completely I love the Lord, but this verse definitely reveals my lacking. I love Him, but, how Completely do I love Him?
The word Truly means; without deception or exaggeration.
Authentically, not superficially.
In a way that is honest and sincere.
Completely means; Fully or entirely — with nothing lacking or left out.
To the greatest possible extent — totally, without limit.
In every way — affecting all parts or aspects.
The way to show that I love Him in such a way is to obey His word. For a minute this is discouraging... can I love in such a way? Holding nothing back? Full depth and not surface love? Does my love for Him affect all parts and every aspect of my life? Man, I sure want it to! Where there will be days I fall short and put something or someone before my obedience and love for God, I will strive to love Him with my whole heart and actions.
Tell me your thoughts?
- How does love for God motivate obedience?
- In what area of life are you lacking obedience to God's word?
- How can that change?
