Spotting the Great Trochanter in a Study after François Boucher
I was drawn to the beautiful twist in this pose, such a dynamic rhythm! The bean method works perfectly when capturing the torsos in Boucher’s figures; it really helps to anchor the movement.
After watching Chris’s video on the Great Trochanter, I couldn’t help but notice how clearly it stands out in this pose. It’s like a central knot where so many muscle forms converge, such a fascinating area to study! Looking at it now, I think I could have emphasized that “knot” a little better, definitely something I will consider in my next studies.
Coloured pencil and graphite on paper.
