About a week and a half ago, my non-paying houseguest moved out. My grandma had fallen, and I thought she would be wheelchair-bound and need to move in with us for a while. Fortunately, she was discharged from the hospital able to hop on one leg with a walker, and was able to go home to her apartment, and her neighbors, my family and I check on her daily (taking turns).
So I got rid of the bum (he’d asked to stay for 2 weeks, but stayed over 9!) and got my space back. (The guest room is also my home office, pole studio and laundry room.)
Having my space back and not being taken advantage of is a wonderful feeling, and it also counts as a financial win, because my expenses will be lower than they have been the last few months. On Friday, my friend/former colleague told me, “Don’t take in any more strays!”.
