Ooh this hits home. So many people over the years have asked me to loan them money, give them free room and board, find them jobs, give them rides, buy them cameras and phones…they think I owe them and should take care of them. Even grown men! It’s really sad. If they see me doing fairly well now, it’s because I’ve worked my butt off for everything I have. I wish they would do the same, instead of thinking I am just “privileged”. I literally starved for years, barely ate or slept, worked 3 jobs while supporting my baby and going to college, and everything else. They could be privileged, too, if they’d be willing to strategize and work as hard as I have.

@Nadia B I’ve had to cut people off and simply ignore them when they reach out. I hate to be like that, but see no other way. I’m soft-hearted and it is HARD not to help when asked. I’m getting stronger though.

Thank you. I listened to this before work this morning. I share your sentiments about the developers coming to town to only build luxury apartments, which results in increasing the rent for the rest of us, too. I am getting priced out of where I live, unless I can increase my income quickly, or can buy a home to lock in the mortgage. Thanks for the heads up about the scams, too.
