OMG.
Getting started on that was painful. But I did it!
I finally sat down and made a simple spreadsheet to track what we are actually paying for my daughter’s room, board, tuition, and fees at college in Boulder Colorado.
I had been avoiding those numbers since the very first payment a year and a half ago.
Avoiding.
Because in my head, the number felt massive. Heavy. Scary.
But here is what happened when I actually looked:
The real number was smaller than the monster I had created in my mind.
And instead of panic, I felt peace.
Clarity does that.
Numbers are not the enemy.
Avoidance is.
When we track, we take our power back.
If you need a place to start, pick just one area and open a simple spreadsheet:
• Groceries for the month
• Eating out
• Amazon purchases
• Subscriptions
• Debt payoff progress
• Savings rate
• Utilities for 3 months
Not everything.
Just one.
Track it. Look at it. Breathe.
Most of the time, the story in our head is louder than the reality on paper.
And peace lives on paper.
What is one area of your finances you have been avoiding that you are ready to look at this week?
