The Tonez is an eight-piece high-energy band based in Charlotte, North Carolina, specializing in a dynamic mix of Motown, R&B, funk, disco, rock & roll, and beach music to keep crowds dancing at weddings, festivals, and events across the Southeast. Formed in 2017 by frontman Jonathan Swash (who rebranded his earlier group The Swashtones), the band features a powerhouse horn section, seven versatile vocalists, and all-live performances with no backing tracks. They won the 2020 Rising Star Award at the Carolina Beach Music Awards (CBMA) and include a two-time CBMA-nominated Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year. Key members include Eric (songwriter of their 2020 #1 hit "Empty Chair"), saxophonist Jason (also a vocalist), trombonist Ken (a 30-year Charlotte freelancer), and bassist Micah (self-taught performer with roots in country and rock).
