Camille Monroe, Mike Lock,, Kevin Post, Tasha Griffin, Brian Decker, Paul Brown, Sneha Bapodra, Jerome Hunley, Sharnee Bennett, B D, Ken Macleod, Anna Lasota You have officially joined a group of people who are at least slightly suspicious of the default life plan — work forever, retire at 67, maybe see the world when your knees stop working.
We’re here for something better:
Build wealth. Live abroad. Create freedom. Eat better fruit.
I just published our first interview inside the Expat Interviews classroom with my friend Sierra Melcher.
Sierra has lived abroad for almost 20 years, moved overseas as a teacher, built and sold a yoga studio in Medellín, started a publishing company, raised her daughter in Colombia, and somehow managed to build a life that includes freedom, family, meaningful work, good health, and apparently massages on Friday afternoons.
In the interview, we talk about:
- Living abroad without having your entire life figured out
- Starting a business in another country
- Raising a bilingual kid abroad
- Healthcare and education in Colombia
- Earning dollars while spending pesos
- The magic of cheap fruit and walkable cities
- The annoying stuff too: banks, bureaucracy, language, culture shock, and waiting in lines where nobody seems to be in a rush except you
The big question from the conversation is:
What else is possible?
