The flame of god
In scripture there are 2 baptisms that are taught during Jesus’s time with his deciples. We see John baptizing people by water and later he is asking if people have been baptized by the spirit. While reading second Timothy chapter one I see this same spirit. Paul is reminding Timothy of the courageous god fearing spirit he had first received in this baptism.
2 Timothy 6-8
That is why I am reminding you now to fan into a flame the gift that God gave you when I laid my hands on you God’ gift was not a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit of power, and Love, and self control. So you are never to be ashamed of witnessing to the Lord, or ashamed of me for being his prisoner; but with me, bear the hardships for the sake of the Good News, relying on the power of God.
Often times when we are going through life we depend on ourselves to battle sin and share the love of Jesus Christ. It is vain to think we can properly share God’s love without the spirit of god. Or that we being sinful creatures through our own strength or will have the ability to redeem ourselves from sin. Instead Acquaint yourself with the almighty God. For through his grace and mercy we have ALREADY conquered sin and death. We need to trust and embrace the spirit he has bestowed upon us.
