Correcting With Love…
My wife and I once visited a Hispanic church for about a month. While attending the Sunday’s services I noticed that the pastor was also the worship leader. They sang for about 35 minutes, some announcements, passed the plate and he preached for about 30 minutes. The preaching was always about the God of love and promises to proper our lives.
I asked to meet with him on a Monday for lunch. We met in the church so he can have home court advantage. My questions was simple. How come you don’t preach what Jesus, Peter, Paul and John the Baptist preached? Repentance of sins! Heaven and Hell?
His answer was; well, I know they are all saved, so why preach about hell and repentance.
I said, can I borrow your Bible? He said, sure. Then I went to the gospels where Jesus preached about repentance of sins, and hell and was about to tear the pages off when he stopped me. He said, what do you think you are doing? I told him, well, you don’t preach about it, so why have in inside your Bible.
I dint tear the pages off. I gave him back his Bible. Shook his hand, thank him for meeting with me and I left. The word of God is what convicts. and corrects errors through human agencies.
God corrected me very hard and humbled me to the lowest point. That’s the purpose of correction. It hurts your ego and pride so you can now share the truth and serve Him. Amen
