Spiritual Challenges • Identity: "I don't know who I am." • Lack of Purpose: "I don't know why I'm here." • Distance from God: "I don't know God or feel He is far away." When we struggle with Identity, Purpose, and Distance from God, we are essentially experiencing a "spiritual displacement"—feeling like a traveler with no map and no home. We say, "I don’t know who I am," because we have been looking in the mirror of our past mistakes instead of the mirror of God’s Word, which calls us His "masterpiece" (Ephesians 2:10). This lack of identity naturally leads to a Lack of Purpose, where life feels like a series of empty days rather than a mission designed by a Creator who chose us before the foundation of the world. When we feel Distant from God, it is rarely because He has moved; it is usually because the "noise" of our struggles has muffled His voice. But the Gospel reminds us that we don't have to find our own way back—Jesus is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one who is lost, confused, and drifting. Your identity is not "Addict," "Failure," or "Forgotten"; your identity is "Child of the King," and your purpose begins the moment you realize that He is not far off, but right here, waiting to direct your very next step. Assignment: Finding Your Way Home Section 1: Identity (Who am I?) 1. The "Label" Inventory: Write down three negative labels you have used to describe yourself lately (e.g., "Failure," "Addict," "Burden"). Now, read 2 Corinthians 5:17. If you are a "new creation," what is one new label God is giving you today? 2. The Masterpiece mindset: Ephesians 2:10 says you are God’s "handiwork" or "masterpiece." If a masterpiece is defined by its Creator and not its damage, what is one thing about your personality or character that you think God is proud of? Section 2: Purpose (Why am I here?) 3. The "Open Door" Question: If you didn't have to worry about your past or your current struggles, what is one way you would love to help other people in Muncie? (This is often a clue to your purpose). 4. The Small Step: Purpose isn't always a "Big Plan"; sometimes it's just the next right thing. What is one small task you can do this week to serve someone else—even if it’s just a kind word or a helping hand?
