Challenge Day 1

Today I was standing duty at the Naval Station. I thought I was well-prepared for my day, but when Father Fleming put out the call, and I realized I had forgotten my rosary at home! I had a very active day and walked around the command grounds plenty (16K steps? Easy with the views from the office!). I took a pause after dinner to pray a rosary with Hallow leading.

I found myself thinking of the Lord’s command to the deaf man, “Ephphetha!” This was an order to the man’s senses, but in our reading the Gospel it is also a command to us as followers of Christ, to be opened to the Holy Spirit. Any of us struggling in life need to open ourselves to give God space and allow Him to work in us.
