This channel is where we break mixing down into practical, repeatable decisions.
You’ll see two types of posts here.
First: foundational principles.
Gain staging. EQ moves that solve real problems. Compression that supports a performance instead of flattening it. Stereo width that holds up in mono. The fundamentals that make everything else easier.
Second: real-world moves.
Step-by-step breakdowns. Why something felt off. What changed. What didn’t. When to push harder. When to leave it alone.
I’ll share examples pulled from real sessions when possible (cleaned up and client-safe), along with controlled examples built specifically to demonstrate certain concepts clearly.
This won’t be preset-driven mixing. It won’t be about chasing plugins. It will be about developing judgment.
Most examples will lean indie, rock, and folk because that’s where I spend most of my time — but the principles apply anywhere.
We’ll also run mix challenges in here. Same multitracks. Different decisions. You’ll hear how small choices compound.
If you’re new, this will help you understand what actually matters.
If you’re intermediate, this will sharpen your instincts and speed up your workflow.
