Stay connected — Don’t isolate. Talk regularly with sober friends, a sponsor, recovery group, family, or someone you trust.
Protect your routine — Keep structure in your day: work, exercise, meals, sleep, meetings, hobbies, and responsibilities. Too much unplanned time can make old habits easier to return to.
Recognize your triggers early — Pay attention to people, places, emotions, stress, anger, loneliness, and situations that make you want to drink or use. Have an exit plan before temptation gets strong.
Work on yourself every day — Recovery is more than avoiding alcohol or drugs. Prayer, meditation, journaling, AA/12-Step work, exercise, gratitude, and helping others can strengthen the life you’re building.
Focus on today — You don’t have to figure out the rest of your life today. Make the decision: “Whatever happens today, I’m not drinking or using.” Tomorrow, make that decision again.
