1. Sobriety & AA - Stay sober today — focus on 24 hours at a time. - Attend AA meetings regularly. - Call or text another sober person every day. - Stay connected with your sponsor. - Work the 12 Steps rather than only attending meetings. - Read from the Big Book or other recovery material. - Help another alcoholic/addict when you can. - Recognize triggers before acting on them. - Have a plan for cravings, anger, loneliness, boredom, and stress. - Remember why you chose sobriety. 2. God & Spiritual Life - Pray when you wake up. - Ask God for guidance rather than trying to control everything. - Read Scripture or another piece of spiritual material. - Practice gratitude. - Take a few quiet minutes for meditation. - Ask: “What does God want me to do with today?” - Pray before reacting when you’re angry or frustrated. - Practice forgiveness. - Admit when you’re wrong. - End the day with prayer and reflection. 3. Physical Health - Work out consistently. - Strength train. - Walk and stay physically active. - Include conditioning/cardio. - Stretch and work on mobility. - Drink enough water. - Prioritize sleep and recovery. - Prepare meals instead of relying on convenience food. - Eat mostly whole, nutritious foods. - Get enough protein and vegetables. - Keep portions reasonable. - Treat food as fuel as well as something to enjoy. 4. Mental & Emotional Growth One of the biggest parts of recovery is learning how to experience life without needing to escape from it. Practice: - Catching yourself when you’re automatically looking for the negative. - Separating what happened from what you think it means. - Accepting things you cannot control. - Taking responsibility for things you can control. - Not turning one bad moment into a bad day. - Pausing before reacting. - Learning to tolerate discomfort. - Talking about problems instead of burying them. - Asking for help. - Making amends when you’re wrong. - Learning from mistakes without living in them.
