📚 Tonight’s Assignment: Watch Mexico vs. Czechia | Coaching Call Canceled
Instead of our coaching call tonight, we’re going to use the time to watch the Mexico World Cup match and begin developing one of the most important skills in soccer:
Learning how to study the game.
The best players don’t just play soccer. They watch, analyze, and learn from it.
While watching the match, answer these 5 questions:
1. What does Mexico do immediately after losing possession?
- Do they press?
- Do they drop back?
- Who reacts first?
2. How does Mexico build out from the back?
- Which players get involved?
- How do they create passing options?
- What patterns do you notice?
3. What movements happen BEFORE a player receives the ball?
- Check away and back?
- Create space?
- Scan their surroundings?
4. Where does Mexico win the ball most often?
- Defensive third?
- Middle third?
- Attacking third?
- Why do you think that happens?
5. Which player impressed you the most and why?
- Be specific.
- Don’t just say they scored.
- What actions helped the team?
