My Analysis of Mexico Against Czechia
Hey everyone, I just wanted to share with you guys my analysis of Mexico in their match against Czechia. This is the national team I aspire to represent, so I wanted to share some of my insights with you guys. What does Mexico do immediately after losing possession? Mexico’s reaction within the first few seconds of losing the ball is to win it back almost immediately and sometimes even fouling due to the aggressiveness of the press. How does Mexico build out from the back? From goal kicks, a centre back would frequently pass it to Rangel where he would look to find Mora or Romo to play a 3rd man combination with either Montes or Reyes respectively. What movements happen before a player receives the ball? Players always know what they are going to do with the ball prior to receiving it and adjust their first touch accordingly and even play off one and two touches under pressure. Where does Mexico win the ball most often? Mexico frequently win the ball back in the middle of the park, as they’ve been playing a mid block most of the game and have been effective in stopping the build up. Which player impressed you the most and why? Chavez impressed me the most, as this was his first World Cup start and he did well to use his pace and put the ball in the back of the net even though he had time to think about it. If you were the coach, what is one thing you would improve after watching this match? I would want the team to play with a little more intensity at the start of the match, as it was a slow start that could’ve led to a worse result had the opposition been more clinical. What is one thing you learned from watching this match that you can apply to your own game? I learned that I need to play with more pride and passion and worry less about playing football in a way that looks great and not be afraid of doing anything to get the result. We've had a great tournament so far, but it's only going to get harder from here on out. Do you guys think we can go all the way and win the World Cup?
🔥 COACHING CALL RECAP: Game Day Hydration + The Youth Soccer Pyramid (May 13)
If you missed tonight's call, here's what you need to know. 💧 GAME DAY HYDRATION PROTOCOL 2 hours before your game: 1 full bottle of water. 15 to 30 minutes before: half a bottle of water. Water ONLY before the game. Gatorade's high sugar actually makes you thirstier and more drained before kickoff. Save Gatorade and Pedialyte for halftime or after the game. Why Pedialyte over Gatorade? More electrolytes, less sugar. When you're running hard you're losing salt and minerals that water alone won't replace. Pedialyte is kid-approved and a safer bet than random electrolyte brands. How to check if you're hydrated: look at your urine color. Light/pale yellow = good. Dark = you need more water. But don't panic-chug right before the game or you'll be asking your coach for a bathroom break. Start hydrating the day before. Early 8 AM games? Wake up at least 2 hours early and get a full bottle in immediately. Pre-game snacks like grapes, watermelon, and pineapple beat dry options like raisins because they actually contain water. 📐 THE YOUTH SOCCER PYRAMID We broke down every level from AYSO all the way up to MLS NEXT and GA at the top. Your goal: find where you are now and target one to two levels above. Not five levels in six months. One to two in the next year. Real ESA24 players are making these jumps right now. AJ went from SoCal to ECNL RL. Jax went from Flight 3 to Flight 1 and is on track for EA. Another player just signed with MLS NEXT 2 after playing EA. The players climbing the pyramid are the ones doing ALL the little things. Hydration. Nutrition. Extra training. Weekly check-in forms. That's how we find the gaps in your game and close them together. Skip those steps, you stay where you are. 🎥 WATCH THE REPLAY Go watch tonight's full coaching call replay right now. Coach Jessie broke everything down live with the hydration chart, the full league pyramid, and real player examples. This is the stuff that gives you an edge over every kid who just shows up to practice and hopes for the best. Watch it. Take notes. Apply it.

The US youth soccer system has certainly changed quite a bit very recently, as leagues such as MLS Next 2 and N1 didn't exist when I was still playing youth soccer.

Halftime Nutrition: What Actually Fuels Your Second Half
Tonight’s coaching call was focused on one thing: how to properly fuel your body before and during games so your performance doesn’t drop in the second half. We broke down: - What players are currently eating and drinking at halftime - Why most athletes are under-fueling and losing energy late in games - The difference between carbs vs protein timing (and why protein is NOT your halftime priority) - Why high-carb, low-fat, low-protein snacks are the key to immediate energy - The importance of electrolytes, sodium, and hydration for maintaining performance - Why certain foods like oranges, dairy, and high-fiber snacks can actually hurt performance mid-game - How to choose snacks that are fast-digesting and game-ready - Real examples of top halftime options like: Applesauce packets (quick energy, low fiber) Bananas (in moderation) Pretzels (for sodium + hydration support) Dried fruits (high carb, fast fuel) We also answered player questions on: - Protein shakes (when to use them and when NOT to) - Meat/protein snacks vs carb-based snacks - Managing stomach discomfort during games - How to test what works best for your body Bottom line:If you don’t fuel correctly, your second half will suffer. Simple. Now it’s on you to apply this, test it, and build your routine. 📌 Attachment: Halftime Nutrition Guide (Recommended Snacks + Amazon Link To Purchase)
