These 2 weekends have seen us go to Sydney Motorsport Park and Mac Park in Mount Gambier. Sydney was great I got 5th and 7th in class and 9th and 11th overall. It was a positive result for my second race there on the 600, and night racing was pretty cool as well! As a result of getting 7th in my class for the weekend, I am sitting in tied 5th in the ASBK Supersport championship going into the 3rd race of the season. (This is the furthest up the order I have ever been, and I am super pumped for the next races.) The second race we went to was the Easter Cup at Mac Park in Mount Gambier, and this was a brilliant weekend. Yes, it wasnāt a national weekend, only a state round, but the competition there was pretty high and so much fun. I walked away from the Easter Cup round with 1st in the Supersport and 1st in the Pre-Modern. But the one race I wanted to win was against the superbikes. Specifically, it was against one of my coaches, Davo Johnson, on a superbike. I knew this was going to be a very tough race chasing after a world-class rider on a bigger bike than me, and my goal was to do everything I could to win, or at least finish within 1 second of him. This was a long 15-lap race, and it was very tiring having to push and chase after him, the entire race, but the gap stayed steady at about a second throughout the first 10-12 laps, and once the final laps crept closer, so did the back markers⦠We had to pass these lapped riders as fast as we could so the gap didnāt change, and as we both came around the last 2 corners, Davo got held up by a back marker, which allowed me to close right up coming out of the last corner, and then... it was a drag to the line, and after 15 laps⦠1st and 2nd were separated by 0.022 across the line⦠unfortunately, I was that much short of winning and stayed in second, but this race was awesome nonetheless. The first video and photo is the final moments of the race after 15 laps and nearly 40km of racing. To be separated by that much to THE Davo Johnson was pretty freaking cool.
