Applied Obedience
Applied Obedience – The Difference Anyone can teach a dog to sit. Anyone can teach a dog to stay. But can you use it anywhere? At Dog 2 Dog, we don’t just teach obedience — we teach applied obedience. That means the behavior isn’t limited to the training session or one familiar spot. It works in real life. An anchored, unbendable stay means: • At the dinner table • At the back door • In the backyard • On the front porch • At the park • In new environments • Around distractions The dog understands the command — not the location. Applied obedience means the behavior holds under pressure. It transfers across venues. It becomes reliable. Predictable. Functional. This is the foundation of advanced work — and absolutely essential in service dog training. Obedience isn’t just something your dog does in class. It’s something you can use anywhere. Dog training, elevated. The perfect partnership. Dog 2 Dog University Where are you applying your obedience today? Where do you struggle? Love and appreciate you have a beautiful day. Darcy

Understanding the Dog.
🐶 One of the biggest things that get in the way of our relationship with our dogs or as I say perfect partnership with our dog is the Human aspect. We are so complex and can have high energy emotions and all that goes straight down the leash. I try to practice that when I see something that I may say is unwanted, I try to breathe first and ask how am I, what going on with me. Often, we just react to all the stimulus that comes at us and how we absorb it and we can become over stimulated and depending on our sensory threshold, we can become frustrated. Today’s fun Challenge: Obedience can always be refined; Let’s play with playing. with our dogs. I call it getting dirty with the dog. This might be cuddling, playing with a ball or rope etc. Taking off leashes and collars depending where this is happening. Always safety first. Dogs are glorious and a magical creature. They have saved my sanity and life, kept me going in the most difficult times and brought such joy and learning. Here at Dog 2 Dog University our mission is perfect partnership ad living joyfully with your dog. Share How you play with your dog and how that play can shift the mood in the human and the joy in the dog. I love you all and am so grateful for you. Sending you all love and well-being. Darcy
Beware!
Animal Services has been patrolling Liberty Park recently. Nena and I used to play catch with her E Collar on, but SLC does not recognize an E Collar as a leash. So beware that they could give you a ticket for having an off leash dog! Kill joys!! 😡

Dealing with Dog fear
Has anyone dealt with this level of fear in a dog. Something is going on with Ruby and the vets have no idea what’s wrong. Poor girl is losing her mind and won’t even go to the bathroom. She just lays on the bed all day and won’t move. Shes been playful a few times inside on the coach. But then as soon as her leg zings her she goes right back to shaking and associating the outside with pain. I am heart broken and don’t know what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Semper Fi dog trainer compliments Ruby
Off leash recall training with Ruby at the beach. A Semper Fi dog trainer called me over to compliment me on Ruby and her extended stay and recalls while practicing near these tides pools with strong waves. Thanks Darcy for continuing to help us have the tools to work the magic. Without her E collar work implemented this Summer it wouldn’t be possible!
