Goat Discussion Group
Let us know how many and what breed of goat you have. We currently have 7 Angoras, 7 Anglo Nubian does and 8 meat goats who are at varying stages. I have 4 does due to kid this summer who will be used for milking. We co-share with the kids, so I don't remove the kids but milk around them.

Let us know how many and what breed you have. I have Isa Browns, Australorps, Araucanas, Brahmas and Faverolles. I have also had Rhode Island Reds, Plymouth Rocks and Wyandottes. We have also raised Cob meat birds. We currently have about 35 chickens who are pasture raised, so have access to their paddock day and night.

Say G'day and introduce yourself
Welcome to the Ditch the Store community! I’m so glad you’re here. This is the place to connect with others on the same path — whether you’re just starting out or already knee-deep in compost. Take a moment to introduce yourself below. Tell us where you're from and what stage you're at in your homesteading journey. I’m CJ, and along with my partner (aka the Handy Helper), we run Mojo Homestead — 120 acres in regional NSW, Australia. We raise chickens for eggs and meat, goats for milk, meat and fibre, bees for honey, and cows for dairy and beef. We grow as much of our own fruit, veggies, and nuts as we can, and make our own bread, cheese, cleaning products, and even a few crafty things. We’ve been working on ditching the store for about 8 years now, and we’re getting pretty good at it — though we still buy toilet paper! Can’t wait to hear your story.
Bottle Babies - Human reared goat kids
I'm thinking making an ebook specifically aimed at bottle reared goats. We recently lost a doe, Sage, just 2 days after she kidded. As a result her 2 babies are now being hand reared by the Handy Helper and myself. I've had a few questions from new homesteaders around bottle rearing and it can be tricky. The videos online show healthy babies running for bottles and drinking easily. It's a bit deceptive as a lot can go wrong. I would love it if you could post any questions you might have around bottle reared goats? Anything, there are no "dumb" questions. I want to cover as much as possible to give homesteaders all the info. Pictured is Cookie and Cream, who are now 3 weeks old. The second picture is just after I found them in the paddock. They were nearly a week premature and I really did not think Cookie would make it, but he is a fighter.
