And I want to speak to that part of you today. Because you are not done. You may be tired. You may be disappointed. You may have started, stopped, started again, and wondered if you still have what it takes. But listen closely: the fact that you still care is proof that the dream is not dead. People over 40 are often told to be realistic. Settle down. Play it safe. Be grateful for what you have. And yes, gratitude matters. But gratitude does not mean you stop growing. You are allowed to want more. You are allowed to begin again. You are allowed to become someone new without apologizing for how long it took you to get here. Never giving up does not mean you never feel fear. It means fear does not get the final vote. It means you show up when confidence is low. You take the next step when the whole staircase is unclear. You stop waiting for perfect timing and decide, “This is the moment I have.” Your age is not a limit. It is evidence. Evidence that you have survived hard seasons.
