Okay so… bit of a different post today.
I’ve been feeling a bit stuck as a software engineer lately — and I’d love to hear if anyone else has been through this.
See, I’ve been actively trying to improve the structure and quality of my code — you know, cleaner architecture, better patterns, proper naming, scalability in mind — all that good stuff.
But the moment I do that, my speed drops drastically.
Managing things on a broader scope, keeping everything tight and in check, and still trying to move fast… it just gets overwhelming sometimes.
It is helping me learn a lot, no doubt — but I often wonder:
Is this just a phase that gets better with time? Or am I being too much of a perfectionist?
I feel like I haven’t done enough real-world projects yet for this to become second nature or "muscle memory"...
Any devs here who’ve been through this curve — how’d you navigate it?
Would appreciate any insights 🙏
