Montessorians for Peace in Palestine- Recap and Next Steps!
It was great to see everyone who attended our session today! For those that could not attend, we discussed the context of our statement and why it came about, and then spent the rest of our time discussing how we can take our words and turn them into action. Out of that conversation, the three groups emerged: 1. Amplifying the Message: Spearheaded by Emily and Hannah, they will be helping us make a collaborative video of the statement, with the goal of reaching more educators and leaders, both in and outside of the Montessori world 2. Webinar talks/workshops on how to talk about Palestine with families and with children of all ages: Spearheaded by Christine and Andrew, we will plan some dates for these virtual events and then share them across our collective networks to get as much reach as possible 3. Impacting policy and media at the local, national, and international level: Spearheaded by Frank and Christine, they will be looking into the best ways to contact representatives and media folks who can help us spread this message, holding our statement up as a representation of who we are as Montessorians. We have all agreed to do an asynchronous check-in in two weeks and to do another live session on Saturday November 1! For those that were not there but want to support, please comment on where you want to engage and we will connect with you! Also, if you have ideas for other groups to emerge, drop them in the comments as well or start a new thread. We ended the call by deciding on a working name for our group- Montessorians for Peace in Palestine. This platform gives me a limit on how many characters I can get for a section, so make sure all related posts go under the "Peace in Palestine" tab. Thanks for being such great co-conspirators- I am grateful to be in this work with each one of you! Best, Andrew
