Tear Alchemy
We can look at the life cycle of water as a reflection of our own emotional alchemical process.
Just like water has no end, it only continually transforms state, so do we, & so do our emotions.
I think all the water that is on this planet has been here since the beginning. All water on this planet is ancestral & deeply spiritual with the ability to store & transmit memory, intelligence, & more. This includes the water within ourselves. Our tears are also ancestral. Holding the pain, the joy, the dreams, the wisdom of our ancestors. & our “ancestors” go far beyond just our blood lineages. Our ancestors include plants, animals, elementals, & more. All sharing consciousness through water.
I find it fascinating the process of crying is the same as the life cycle of water.
The sun causes evaporation, leading to warm vapor rising and turning into clouds. The vapor condenses into droplets & when the clouds get too heavy or full, it rains. This water then reintegrates into the earth, regenerating, sustaining, & facilitating all of life. This is the same exact process that happens with our tears, all generated by our inner sun within the heart (the soul).
Tears are sacred waters of the soul, carrying remembrance and emotions that words cannot always express. Spiritually, tears can be viewed as an offering, a sacred release of what the heart has been holding & when we allow our tears to flow freely, we honor the element of water, allowing our emotions to move naturally without resistance, shame, or judgment.
As our tears fall upon Mother Earth, they become a symbolic offering of our love, sorrow, & gratitude.
The same way the waters of the earth alchemize & purify the blood, sweat, & tears of our ancestors that are soaked into the land, is the same way our tears purify the imprints of our lineages. The same way water allows new greenery to grow, is the same way our grief waters new beginnings in our lives.
However what do we do when the water gets stuck? Frozen? Not everyone can cry with ease. Not everyone was allowed to feel safe doing so. As a result, we may not cry until years later. Frozen water needs dethawing. What allows for dethawing? Deep presence, witnessing, & contact with our inner world—none of which is easily accessible when we are in survival mode & not in the practice of regularly living from this energy.
This is why having a strong connection to the heart space is so essential, the Self is the Sun, it gives us the energy to transmute. When we are disconnected, our system is not running the natural alchemical cycle optimally which leads to depressions, etc. As we talked about during our meeting, the heart already knows how to heal itself. Just as nature knows it’s most efficient course.
The other type of stuck water is still water. & still water stinks. Water needs movement. Our channels need to be open, in flow, & we must participate in keeping them circulating if we want to be healthy. Which usually just looks like removing all of the dense energy that may be clogging the channels and creating space for that toxic energy to exit.
What is your relationship with crying? Our tears are sacred medicine that can heal ourselves, the collective, & the planet.
Week 1 of grief, love, & death was so lovely. Save your teary tissues across this journey, do not throw them out, as we will be doing a special ritual with them during Week 3. Recording available in the classroom 💗
