āØThe Lion King š¦ : Why Are We Running From the Truths We Teach Our Children?āØ
I have watched The Lion King countless timesāfirst as a child, and now as a mother with my own children. For years, like most people, I was moved to tears by Mufasaās death. I felt the weight of the loss, the darkness, and the "end" of the story. But over the last 8 years, something has shifted deep inside my soul. I don't cry at the death anymore. I am moved to tears by the encounter. I am moved by the moment Simba finally stops running and chooses to face his past. It is funnyāand perhaps divinely orchestratedāthat a theme in a child's movie has become the very theme of my own growth and the foundation of my lifeās work. This is what I am teaching in 'From Darkness Into Light.' We spend so much time mourning what was lost or looping in the pain of the "death" in our lives. But the real medicineāthe most profound message I have ever picked up from any sourceāis the moment the "Living Contract" is read back to us from the stars: Simba: "How can I go back? I'm not who I used to be." Mufasa: "Remember who you are. You are my son, and the one true king. Remember who you are..." As the vision fades, we are left with the reality of the work. This dialogue between Simba and Rafiki is the heartbeat of the Celestial Bridge: Simba: "I know what I have to do. But going back means I'll have to face my past. I've been running from it for so long." [Rafiki cracks him over the head with his staff] Simba: "Ouch! Geez, what was that for?" Rafiki: "It doesn't matter. It's in the past!" Simba: "Yeah, but it still hurts." Rafiki: "Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it." āThis is the simplest, purest form of the work. Every soul is here to raise consciousness and maintain a harmonious balance for all life. We face cycles we can't seem to break until we look into the mirror of our own frequency and understand the "why" behind the patterns. If you're wanting to step into the Circle of Life and stop runningāif you're ready to face your past to see the true reflection of who you areāDM me. ššļø
